Stay with the season.
A quiet retreat shaped by torrential rain, ancient canopy, and the slow primal rhythm of the Western Ghats. Twelve rooms carved from laterite and timber.
A house built around the land.
Monsoon House was not built to resist the downpour; it was engineered to celebrate it. Built using local laterite stone that hardens upon exposure to mist, weathered teak from fallen forest timbers, and natural slate that resonates under heavy rainwater drops.
Open courtyards allow dense fog to roll straight through the verandas. Cantilevered rooflines channel cloudbursts into ancestral stepwells, honoring the ancient hydrological wisdom of Malabar architecture.

Rammed Earth & Laterite Masonry
The roof pitch creates distinct acoustics at 12mm vs 45mm rainfall rates.
Follow the Weather
In the Ghats, weather is not something to check—it is the very architecture of the day. Toggle states to witness how life adapts in the house.

Eat with the land.
Our kitchen cooks without shortcuts. Ingredients are grown in our regenerative terraced gardens or brought daily by farmers within a 15-kilometer radius. Cooking is done over charcoal, coconut husks, and dried coffee wood in hand-thrown terracotta pots.
Sun-dried Tellicherry black peppercorns harvested from wild vines on our trees.
Navara and Gandhasale rice varieties cultivated in high-altitude organic wetland paddies.
Slow down. Properly.
No sterile spa treatment rooms. Our therapies take place in open laterite pavilions surrounded by falling water, rain-damp foliage, and steaming wild herb infusions.

“We arrived during an immense cloudburst. The road had vanished into fog. For four days, we never looked at a clock. We came for the rain—we stayed for everything else.”
